How to Make People Like You is a short film I wrote, directed, and edited about a socially inept guy who decides to ask AI how to get people to like him. The film uses awkward humor and discomfort to explore insecurity, people-pleasing, and how easy it is to overthink the way other people see you.
I was involved in almost every part of the project, from writing the script and developing the visual style to storyboarding, shot planning, casting, crew recruitment, location scouting, production coordination, directing, and editing. I also created the film’s promotional materials, social media, and website, which I used to build interest in the project and direct people to cast and crew forms
These social media posts were created to promote How to Make People Like You and build interest in the film before its release. I pulled specific ideas, lines, and imagery from the script and reinterpreted them as individual promotional graphics. Each post hints at elements of the story without giving away too much, helping establish the film’s awkward and slightly unsettling tone. The graphics were created in Adobe Illustrator and designed to work together as a consistent Instagram campaign.

I designed and built the website primarily as a recruitment tool for the production. The site directed visitors to casting and crew interest forms while also introducing the film’s visual identity and tone. By promoting the website and linked forms, I received 55 responses from people interested in being involved with the project.
I designed this recruitment flyer and social post in Adobe Illustrator to help find actors and crew for How to Make People Like You. I shared the graphics online and posted them physically around campus to reach people in multiple ways.

I created these signs in Adobe Illustrator to help actors find the correct room during auditions. I also posted the signs online before auditions, which helped build additional interest and made the audition process feel more intentional and recognizable.
I created the Planet Death DVD cover as a prop for How to Make People Like You. The design was made in Adobe Illustrator and was meant to look like a cheap, over-the-top sci-fi movie, with dramatic type, exaggerated space imagery, and intentionally corny details to match the joke in the script.
I also created the actual Planet Death movie visuals in Blender separately, so the fictional movie had its own look both on the DVD cover and when it appears on screen.
